COMING SPRING 2026

The Sun in Winter

Rachel Crane has all the ingredients for a beautiful life: family wealth, loving parents with strong values, and a close relationship with her younger sister, Isabel. After a shooting at a nightclub in Paris leaves Isabel handicapped and her family in tumult, Rachel is unable to cope with her guilt over her part in the tragedy. As a means of atonement, against all reason, Rachel adopts Isabel’s life plan as her own. She escapes to Chicago to begin a solitary life as a therapist and grudgingly takes as a client her troubled neighbor, Hailey Reynolds, who is at her own crisis point.

As she urges the intrepid Hailey to confront her past, Rachel is increasingly drawn out of her self-imposed solitude. But when tragedy strikes again, she is forced to face her own trauma and reexamine the foundation upon which she rebuilt her life.

As the two women face their individual traumas, the unlikely, sometimes comical, intersection of their lives provides the catalyst for change and, ultimately, redemption.

A portion of the author’s royalties will be donated to programs eliminated and individuals harmed by the Trump Administration.
